The apt lines includes an extra white space between http:// and the hostname
If you get
Err http: gandalfn.club.fr/ubuntu/./ Packages
Could not resolve ‘dists’
errors while sudo aptitude update, edit your /etc/apt/sources.list and replace
deb http:// gandalfn.club.fr/ubuntu edgy .
with
deb http://gandalfn.club.fr/ubuntu edgy .

thanks for this, but it seems that the edgy repo is down? when trying to update packages after adding the repo and trying to connect it hangs for several minutes before timing out.
2 November 2006 at 2:28 pm
Is there any gpg key for apt-get to automactically check authenticity of .deb binary packages?
2 November 2006 at 3:40 pm
No way to get also PPC arch included in your repository?
Thanks
Alex

any possibility to see 64bit version in ur repository?
9 November 2006 at 8:24 pm
Will you be adding a Feisty repository soon? I imagine the packages will soon grow too different to use the Edgy repo.

deb-src http://gandalfn.club.fr/ubuntu/ edgy .

Hey mate,
Do you think you could update the documentation at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/CompositeManager/Compiz to include information about your repository?
Thanks.

[...] XGL (or Beryl) works brilliantly on the Thinkpad, and Ubuntu seems to be drawing up menus and their icons quite much faster. Another big pro is the clear and far more readable fonts. I am impressed. I know that I am gonna go fast tired on most of the animations that Beryl gives me, but luckily these can be turned off. I have never liked Exposé in MacOS X, and the same goes for Scale Effect. The Enhanced Switcher is quite nice and the same goes for Desktop Cube and Windows Animations. Transparency is great, but I often prefer to have a clear white background. I will also try to get Compiz installed, as a repository is made for Edgy Eft. [...]

It seems to me that the Dapper repository does not include dependencies.
4 January 2007 at 9:27 pm
What’s happened to the edgy repo? It’s got part 0.22 and part 0.36 in it. Anyone who has mistakenly tried to upgrade has ended up with a dead compiz. Are we just waiting for 0.36 build of some components or is this a genuine oversight?
8 January 2007 at 9:36 pm
Installation wont happen, neither in terminal nor synaptic:
compiz-freedesktop conflicts with compiz-freedesktop-gnome.. seems like they have incompatible versions or dependencies or whatever… is anyone else having this problem ?
8 January 2007 at 11:46 pm
remove stable repos is deprecated and conflicts with latest compiz release, update your source.list like this :
deb http://gandalfn.club.fr/ubuntu edgy dev10 January 2007 at 8:27 am
Sorry I don’t speak english very well.. what does it mean “deprecated”? Will I be able to install again compiz-freedesktop stable? I’m not so satisfied with the development version and I would like to reinstall it again…
I’m currently using ubuntu edgy and the latest nvida beta drivers.
Thank you for your help

17 January 2007 at 1:34 am
Any chances of seeing Dapper packages again?

I work from behind a proxy server that also requires user authentication. Can someone please tell me how to configure Adept or Apt to work with proxy servers.
5 March 2007 at 3:39 pm
Uncle_sam you have to add this line to /etc/apt/apt.conf
Acquire::http::Proxy “http://user:pass@address:port/”;
with your username, password, proxy server address and port

Everytime I try to get the key I get this:
-desktop:~$ gpg –keyserver hkp://wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net –recv-keys 0×483170E9 ; \
> gpg –export -a 0×483170E9 | sudo apt-key add -

I’m running gnome-compiz-preferences 0.10.3 but for some reason it’s missing the “Animation”, “Miscellaneous” and “State” tabs. How do I enable them ? I’m missing the widget plugin for screenlets …
Thanks for the good work !

Will you be adding a git Feisty repository soon?
10 April 2007 at 3:43 pm
In first, excuse me for my english, it doesn’t very well.
I tried to install the packages compiz-extra, compiz-extra-gnome and compiz-extra-plugins, but an error arrived with the compiz-extra package, it could not install because the package is broken.
I work on Feisty 7.04 beta. I use the repository which you indicate for this version of Ubuntu. I tested several times but the same error appears.
What can I do to repair the installation ?

Okay, how about updating a bit here? Packages are 2 months old and 0.5 came out. Thanks.
19 April 2007 at 1:47 pm
@Gandalf: I bet, that your repository better be updated a.s.a.p. before Feisty is released, because compiz.org announced this Mirror only.
@Everyone: Add this line to your sources for compiz 0.5 for ubuntu feisty (even amd64 too):
deb http://ubuntu.moshen.de/ feisty eyecandy
But i prior latest unstable Beryl to 0.5 Compiz, because i miss some configuration in Compiz and because unstable Beryl is stable for me, but I commit Compiz performs much better for me with Antialiasing and Blur. I recently only got such performance with XGL, but somehow XGL sucks a lot, because all the different ways to run XGL got at least one realy bad negative aspect.
So dear Compiz, if you read it and wanna make me switch to Compiz, please add “Zoom Out on Rotate”, and please make it really possible to Zoom out really really far. Beryl at max ‘Zoom Out on rotate’ is also a little too near for my flavor. And please an something like Window Properties. On my desktop every window and the desktop needs to have a maximum transparency of 85%. I dont care, if rest of the world tells me ‘Thats to crazy for me’ when they look on my screen. My eyes are trained on transparency, and my daily work, my time, in much virtual action i benefit from transpareny. Creating huge lists of voip or btx areas has never been so easy. Comparing different lists has never been so easy for me. And I can read whats happening at home at the same time as i do my work, without loosing more time than 5% as i increased my productivity by 100%. All that transparency doesnt become scary to handle, if you choose dark skins, but the old fashined gray white designs, getting overblended by transperency very quick.
20 April 2007 at 7:29 am
I receive this:
gpg: requesting key 483170E9 from hkp server wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net
gpgkeys: key 483170E9 not found on keyserver
gpg: no valid OpenPGP data found.
gpg: Total number processed: 0
Where is the problem?
5 May 2007 at 2:12 pm
same problem with GPG key here (running Feisty):
$ gpg –keyserver hkp://wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net –recv-keys 0×483170E9
gpg: requesting key 483170E9 from hkp server wwwkeys.eu.pgp.net
gpg: keyserver timed out
gpg: keyserver receive failed: keyserver error

Using Feisty, trying to install gnome-compiz-manager-extra
but this is all I get:
mark@mark-desktop:~$ sudo apt-get install gnome-compiz-manager-extra
Reading package lists… Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information… Done
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.
Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:
The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gnome-compiz-manager-extra: Depends: libgnome-compiz-manager but it is not installable
E: Broken packages
8 June 2007 at 7:17 pm
I have the same problem… seems that libgnome-compiz-manager is replaced by libgnome-compiz-manager0. Does anyone know how to change gnome-compiz-manager-extra ’s dependency to libgnome-compiz-manager0 ??????
20 June 2007 at 3:34 pm
Hi…
Any amd64bit version available?
10 July 2007 at 12:11 pm
Same problem here as bootsbradford for gnome-compiz-manager-extra.
Please let me know when problems fixed.
